Sunday, October 21
2:00 p.m., Great Hall – Gallagher-Bluedorn

The first family concert of the season features a return performance by the acclaimed ‘music-telling’ troupe, Tales & Scales. Just Beyond the Junkyard tells the story of Renny Hall—a little girl who lives near an inner-city junkyard where her resourcefulness and vivid imagination allow her to enter a kingdom of magical transformations. The Symphony’s Instrument Petting Zoo will be available in the lobby before the concert for hands-on discovery!

The popular Hearst Center pre-concert craft activity will once again be held in the lobby at 12:30 p.m. This 45-minute session offers children the chance to use their own creativity to make a concert-themed craft. Advance registration required.

Sunday, February 17
2:00 p.m., Great Hall – Gallagher-Bluedorn

Our partnerships with Iowa artists kick into full gallop with a fun and informative concert co-created with the educators and performers of Iowa-based Calle Sur. From the whistle of a Wild West cowboy tune to the folk sounds of Latin American gauchos, this program will broaden kids’ understanding and appreciation of our southern neighbors. Paraguayan harpist Alfredo Ortiz and lasso-throwing, story-telling cowboy Pop Wagner will add to the fun plus the Symphony’s instrument petting zoo will be available in the lobby for hands-on discovery!
