wcfsymphony is now accepting applications from Iowa’s student musicians to participate in the wcfsymphony Young Artist Concerto Competition on Sunday, February 16, 2020. The competition will be held in Davis Hall at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Piano, string, woodwind, brass and percussion students in grades 8 through 12 are eligible to participate in the competition (applicants must be Iowa residents).
Applicants must be prepared to perform, on the day of competition, from memory, one fast movement of a standard solo concerto for which there is an orchestra accompaniment. Applicants are required to provide their own accompanist and music. Upon request, names of local accompanists will be provided. One published copy of the piano score must be provided for the judges; no photocopies please. Each entrant will be allowed 8 minutes to play for judges. Appropriate cuts should be clearly marked in the piano score.

The first place winner may perform with wcfsymphony at the discretion of Artistic Director Jason Weinberger. Deadline for applications is January 16, 2020.
