Concert: Création du Monde

Experience jazz- and pop-influenced music for chamber orchestra by Copland, Milhaud, and young American composer Timo Andres. Copland and Milhaud were both strongly influenced by their encounters with jazz in the first half of the twentieth century; at the start of the twenty-first century prominent young composer Timo Andres finds inspiration in pop and electronic music with his 'orchestral paraphrase on the subject of Eno’s music.'

This performance is our first chamber orchestra performance since our pandemic-era video series and highlights soloists from throughout the orchestra. Jason Weinberger will host a pre-concert conversation from the Great Hall stage at 6:15pm.
