New Year's Eve FAQ

Q: Will there be a pre-show performance?
A: Local artist and singer Felicia Smith-Nalls will perform a pre-show concert beginning at 7:00 in the lobby.

Q: What repertoire will be performed by the wcfsymphony?
A: The wcfsymphony will be performing the following pieces:

Overture from Die Fledermaus- Johann Strauss Jr
Waltzes from Der Rosenkavalier- Richard Strauss
Pizzicato Polka- Johann Jr & Josef Strauss
Sleigh Ride- Leroy Anderson
Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker- Piotr Ilych Tchaikovsky
Skater’s Waltz- Emile Waldteufel
Emperor Waltzes- Johann Strauss Jr
Gold and Silver Waltz- Franz Lehar
Blue Danube- Johann Strauss Jr

Q: Will there be dancing during the performance?
A: Yes! There will be a dance floor set up in front of the orchestra during the second half of the concert to use for dancing to waltzes.

Q: Who will be performing at the after party?
A: The jazz band Hands of Time will be playing in the lobby after the symphony concert. Keep dancing into the night with the sounds of jazz and popular favorites.

Q: Where is the after party located?
A: The after party will be located in the lobby of the Gallagher Bluedorn.

Q: Can I attend the post concert party without attending the wcfsymphony performance?
A: Yes! You may purchase a ticket to the performance only, the post concert party only, or both.

Q: Does my ticket include the post concert party?
A: If you would like to purchase a ticket to both the concert and after party, make sure to select the option “Melodies 'til Midnight - A New Year's Celebration Entire Evening Package” online, or let the box office know you would like both when ordering over the phone or in-person.

Q: Will there be a countdown to midnight?
A: Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the ultimate countdown to midnight. Party favors, a ball drop, and more will be present during our New Year’s Eve celebration.

Q: Does the post concert party include food and drink? Does it come with my ticket?
A: There will be cash bars available during both the concert and after party. Snacks will be available during the concert on a cash basis. Hot hors d’oeuvres and light desserts will be served during the after party at no charge. A complimentary glass of champagne or non-alcoholic drink will be provided at midnight.

Q: Is there valet for this event?
A: Yes, valet parking for this event is being provided by Gallagher Bluedorn and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity.

Q: What if the weather is bad that night?
A: UNI Facilities Management will be keeping up with clearing the premises if any snow is present. The show will go on!

Q: What should I wear?
A: Many of our patrons will be dressing up for this event, but it is not required. Dress to the nines, come in 1920’s era costume in honor of our 90th Anniversary Season, or come as you are!

Q: Are kids welcome?
A. Kids tickets are available for both the concert and the after party. Patrons are encouraged to use their own judgment about bringing young children to the after party.
