Young Artist Competition winners!

January 26, 2016

The wcfsymphony Concerto Competition attracts top student musicians from across Iowa. This year's competition took place on Sunday, January 24, 2016 in Davis Hall at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. Piano, string, and woodwind students in grades 8 through 12 from across Iowa participated.

Congratulations everyone who shared their remarkable talents with us at this year's competition! Judges Randy Grabowski, Kayla Bellamy and Jason Weinberger were very impressed by the depth of this year's field. Our winners were Jina Park, violin (first place), Derek Hwang, cello (second place), and Nina Bernat, bass (third place).

Cash prizes of $400 for first place, $250 for second place, and $150 for third place were awarded, and Jina will perform with wcfsymphony for 4000 students at our Youth Concerts on April 5!

Thank you to Friends of wcfsymphony for its stewardship of this event and for supporting the winner's prizes.
